DOUG PATRICK SMITH

Doug Smith, 58, died on October 5, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born on August 16, 1951 in Des Moines. He enjoyed coaching, his family, had a strong faith, and was always involved in the activities of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicki; sons, Jonah (Danielle) of Geneva, IL and Joshua (Meghan) of West Des Moines; daughter Kelli (Brandon) Hatfield of Des Moines; nine siblings; grandchildren, Isabella, Logan, Colton, Cecilia, and Isaak; parents, Donald and Ellen Smith of Valley Junction.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. on Friday, October 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines. Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
