Richard "Dicky" Allen Hill, age 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on March 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories with family and friends.
Dicky was born on January 21, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Carl Gene and Barbara Ann (Cross) Hill. He was raised in Des Moines, where he spent his life building connections and enjoying the simple pleasures that meant the most to him.
He worked for over 18 years at Firestone Tire, where he dedicated himself to his job and the people he worked alongside. Outside of work, Dicky found joy in fishing and golfing, hobbies that gave him both relaxation and time spent with others. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his team. He also had a deep appreciation for classic rock music and enjoyed trips to the casino, where he could unwind and have a good time.
More than anything, Dicky valued his family. He is survived by his children, Richard West and Sherry West; his grandchildren, Tyler West and Justin West; his sister, Jeananne Hill; and nieces and nephews, Thomas Hill, Dan Hill, Robert Stephens, Daniella Hill, Dustin Hill, Kaylee Hill, Ariana Chale and Jose Chale. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, and as someone who appreciated life's everyday moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Gene and Barbara Ann Hill; and his siblings, Angel Hill and Timmy Hill.
Dicky will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
