Janice Larsen Obituary
Eau Claire, WI
Janice "Jan" Jean Larsen, 86, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Heatherwood Assisted Living in Eau Claire with her family at her side.
She was born April 13, 1929, in Racine, WI, the daughter of Ralph and Alvena (Reinertson) Larsen. She attended Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis and graduated in 1946. Jan married Robert T. Larsen on September 22, 1951, in Des Moines. He passed away on September 18, 1992.
Jan worked as a real estate agent in Des Moines for 20 years. In her spare time Jan enjoyed singing, painting, crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting and theater.
Jan is survived by her two daughters, Robin (Michael J.) Michelsen of Eau Claire, and Holly (James) Hermann of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Erica Brown, Michael D. Michelsen, Kristin (Dean) Anderson, Keri (Colin) Baggs, Andrew Hermann, and Jamie Hermann; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Lynn Ward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and two sisters, Sandra Woodcock, and Nancy Ann Grubb.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Rod Larson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. A memorial service will be held in Des Moines, IA, with burial at Chapel Hill Gardens in April, 2016.

Robin, Holly & families - I'm so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. I have many fond (& more than a few funny) memories of her! Your mom was quite a woman, and fought a great fight. You're all in my thoughts & prayers.

Janice was one of my patients when I worked at Heatherwood. I always made her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and decaff coffeecoffee or water. We would sit in her apartment and talk and talk sipping decaff coffee in the middle of the night when she couldn't sleep. She would tell me stories of living in Chicago. She told me of the depressiondepression. She told me about real estate and selling homes. She talked of her book and her daughters. Her husband and life. And that sweet sweet baby boy grandson she loved to pieces. I will always be grateful I met her. Im glad to have helped her how I could. Her "fashion shows" were quite hilarious BTW. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be missed. Love ya sweet Janice!
