Jared Havel Obituary
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.
Jared was born November 10, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a student at the University of Northern Iowa. Jared was a member of Lutheran Church of Hope and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Jared is survived by his parents, Scott and Julie Havel of Urbandale; brother, Jacob Havel of Urbandale; sister, Jessica Havel of Urbandale; grandparents, Jack and Sandie Stumberg and Kenneth and Marlene Havel all of Grundy Center; great-grandparents, Dwayne and Doris Hansberger of Grundy Center and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Waukee Dollars for Scholars.

Dear Scott & Julie,
My heart is broken for you both. I just lost my father Carl and my nephew Christopher [25] since January - and realize the healing is one only God & time can carry you through. I was a HS football coach when Jared was in High School. I talked with him off and on, but in those talks I always appreciated his respect for me and for others, and watching him practice and play he would always do his best to better the team while bettering himself. Always a TEAM first attitude before a ME first attitude. Great kid, sorry for your loss.

Julie, I used to work with you at Walnut Creek Peds. I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear this news. You were always such a joy to work with and always had a positive attitude. Jared was in our home many times.......always a quiet and polite visitor. Parents always pray that their children have good friends to lead them-Jared was one of those kind and good friends who I knew was leading Adam Bloom in the right direction.
