Michael Gershowitz Obituary
Newark, New Jersey
Michael Gershowitz, 72, formerly of Des Moines, passed away unexpectedly December 21.
Michael had three careers -- as a professor of Public Administration at Long Island University and,until his death, at Rutgers University, a government administrator, and a highly successful grant writer.
For twenty years he owned and operated Gershowitz Grant & Evaluation Services in Des Moines, which served public and nonprofit organizations across the nation and internationally.
The Gershowitz family were members of the Des Moines Jewish community. Michael is survived by his wife Tova and their children Gabriel, Nathaniel and Abby (Matthew.)
Funeral services were held December 22 at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, New York.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines, 33158 Ute Avenue, Waukee, IA 50263.

So sorry to hear of Mike's death. He was a brilliant man and a friend. We lost touch over the years, but I will always remember our time working together. My condolences to Tova and the family.

My wife and I are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Dr. Michael Gershwoitz. Mike was a friend and colleague of mine for over 30 years. He was a devoted public servant, a man of principle, great humanity and a good father and husband. May he rest in peace. Our hearts go out to Tova and his entire family.
