The adventurous spirit of Michelle "Shelley" Ann Manuel ascended into heaven on September 9, 2017. She took her last breath in the presence of her beloved husband, Michael Dane Manuel at the age of 56 in Des Moines, IA. Shelley was born on May 31, 1961 in the town of Burlington, IA. She enjoyed her childhood with her sister Karen Lynn Gibson and brother Jeffrey Stonehocker. Michelle graduated from Ankeny High School in 1979 where she had touched the hearts of many with her brilliant smile as a cheerleader. She later obtained her Diploma of Medical and Dental Assisting from Colorado College in 1983 and eventually settled down with her husband.

Being an incredibly pleasant spirit, Shelley loved taking her two sons, Michael Tucker and Garret Jeffrey Manuel on any quest from thrilling walks in the woods to outdoor picnics. Every year she was sure to have an outstanding costume for Halloween. When she wasn't being an awesome mom at home or assisting her husband with their family business, Manuel Masonry, she was delighting the spirits of the neighborhood kids, traveling to ski down the breathtaking mountains of Winter Park, CO, or water skiing in the wonderful waters of Tablerock Lake, MO on annual friend and family trips.

Aside from her siblings, husband and sons named above, Shelley's parents Carol and Ralph Stonehocker grandchildren, Michael Ray Manuel, Marilyn Jayne Manuel, Jasper Reign Manuel, and Violet Rae Manuel are still living with the precious memories of her unforgettable personality. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Dean Kerr.

Please come celebrate the life of Michelle with us on Thursday, September 14, 2017, 4 to 7pm, and honor her spirit with the family at Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, IA 50322. Services will be Friday, September 15, 11am, Westover Chapel. Cremation will follow.
