Robert F. Boyt (Bob), 92, of Sioux Falls, SD died April 20, 2017 peacefully at home, surrounded by family, having lived a most excellent life.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11am April 25 at Holy Spirit Parish, 3601 Dudley Lane, Sioux Falls, Fr. Chuck Cimpl officiating. On April 24, there will be a public visitation beginning at 1pm. Family will be present from 5-7pm, a rosary will be prayed beginning at 6:30 at Miller Funeral Home - Southside, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bob was born January 1, 1925, in Des Moines to Joseph "Walter" and Helen "Nell" Boyt (O'Malley). He graduated from Dowling High School in 1943. At 18, he was drafted into the Army and assigned to the Signal Corps Co. of the 99th Infantry Division, which played a strategic role in the Battle of the Bulge.

After the war Bob returned to Des Moines and attended Drake University, graduating in 1949 with a major in Economics. In May 1952 he married Jeanne Marguerite Dowdell in Des Moines.

Bob and his brother Jim worked for the family business, Boyt Harness Co. Bob later ran a small investment company, worked as a stockbroker, and was president of Dakota Industries in Sioux Falls until 1981. Bob and Jim also founded The Boyt Investment Co.

Bob had three great loves: family, work, and traveling. Bob and Jeanne would travel long distances to visit their children and their families.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; by three daughters, Nelly Miller (Rick) of Sioux Falls, Marguerite Brown (Dick) of Redmond, WA, and Mary Madsen (Greg) of Kildeer, IL; son Joe Boyt (Kimberly) of Sioux Falls; by 11 grandchildren, Lindsey (Beau Boruff) and Sean Miller, Laura, Sam and Henry Brown, James, Rob and Will Madsen, and Sophia, Quentin and Dexter Boyt; by great-grandson Boyt "Tuck" Boruff; and by sister Kathleen Spargur, of Santa Barbara, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James O'Malley Boyt.
