Robert "Bob" Severns

Knoxville

Robert was born on July 30, 1929 on the family farm in Franklin Township of Marion County, Iowa to Dale Earl and Bertha Blanche (Bingham) Severns.

Robert was raised and worked on the family farm and attended Pleasantville High School, class of 1946. After high school he attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Simpson College in Indianola.

Beginning in 1938 Bob owned and operated with his family Severns Implement of Pleasantville and then later Knoxville. He retired in 1976 from the John Deere Dealership. He later sold cars at Agan - Fleming Ford. Bob and his family traveled extensively and he enjoyed yardwork. He loved and was devoted to his family and his many friends.

On September 5, 1949 near Pleasantville, Iowa Robert and Helen Louise Batten were married. They shared 61 years of marriage and were blessed with three children Gary, Robin, and Holly.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Bob is survived by his wife Helen Severns of Knoxville; three children Gary (Janet) Severns of Chaska, MN, Robin (Jim) Findley of Knoxville, and Holly (Andy) Haug of Westminster, CO; seven grandchildren Dan Findley, Samantha Mick, Jim Findley, Nathan Courtney, Ben Severns, Jeremy Courtney, and Sam Severns; and six greatgrandchildren Sierra, Izabella, Madlyn, Tyson, Aidan, and Kalen. Bob is also survived by his brother Ron (Barb) Severns of The Villages, Florida.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, at the New Covenant Church in Knoxville, with Pastor Swann Juline officiating. A Luncheon will follow services also at the New Covenant Church. A Private family burial will follow the luncheon at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

A memorial has been established to the Knoxville Rescue and Fire Department or the Marion County Genealogical Society.
