Rudolph Thomas Vasquez was born November 20, 1939 in Fargo, North Dakota to Joseph and Minnie (Perez) Vasquez. Rudy served in the U.S. Army for four and a half years. He married Marni Allen on December 2, 1972 in Des Moines.
Rudy worked for the Polk County Child Support Office, the State Department of Human Services and as an investigator for the State Department of Inspections and Appeals. Rudy retired at the age of 62 from the state.
Rudy passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on September 25, 2016 at the age of 76.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Marni; sons, Tom (Joyce) and Jay; honorary son, Dennis (Elaine) Jones; brothers, Eddie, Joe (Phyllis) and David (Bonnie); sisters Josie and Diane (Chuck); daughter-in-law, Carla; sister-in-law, Char; granddaughter, Amanda; grandson, Marshel and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son, Jon; sisters, Ruth and Phyllis; and brother, Dan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Fargo, North Dakota and Des Moines, Iowa.

Marni,
You have my deepest of sympathy with the passing of Rudy. No matter what was on Rudy's mind or what he was dealing with any given day, he had an infectious smile that made everyone else feel better and put a smile on their face too. He deeply loved his family and friends and will missed forever.

Marni, So sorry to hear of Rudy's passing. I worked with Rudy at DHS in Mason City for many years. He was instrumental in my taking a position as an Investigator. Not only was he my mentor, he was a friend. I will never forget his infectious laugh and how much he loved you and his family. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for your loss Marni. I will always remember how your eyes lit up when speaking about Rudy at our lunches or drinks after work to celebrate birthdays. He was a good man and truly the love of your life. You now have a very special guardian angel watching over you and your family.
