Ruth Ann Elscott

Des Moines - Ruth Ann Elscott, 85, passed away on February 25, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in New Sharon, Iowa on January 20, 1936, to Arthur and Dorothy (Johnson) Burggraaf.

Ruth Ann loved flowers and babysitting, she enjoyed knitting and quilting. Ruth Ann was a great cook. She graduated in 1953 from New Sharon High School and attended one year at Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. In 1954 she married Howard Elscott and together they had three children, Karen, Duane and Steve.

Ruth Ann is survived by her husband, Howard; sons, Duane (Christine) Elscott and Steve (Peggy) Elscott; grandson, Nick Elscott; granddaughter, Shelby Elscott; sister, Nancy Malis and a host of beloved friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen; brother Warren and sister, Sally.

Private services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2:00p.m., at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 NE 22nd Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313 in loving memory of Ruth Ann.
