Thomas Deimerly Obituary

Thomas R. Deimerly

Marshalltown

Thomas R. Deimerly, 62, of Marshalltown entered into eternal life June 9, 2011, in Minneapolis, Minn., following lung transplant surgery. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Gregg Davison officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. at the church. Pursel-Davis Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.vogelfuneralhomes.com.

Thomas was born on February 8, 1949, to John and Mary (Rogerson) Deimerly in Belmond. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1967 and Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology and an associate degree in Electronic Technology/Mathematics.

Tom married Becky Jo Locke on November 20, 1971, in Clarion. He served in the Iowa and Missouri National Guard from 1971 to 1977. He worked at Permaneer Corporation, Mid Equipment, Pendleton Furniture, Kelsey Hayes and Swift and Company. An entrepreneur Tom owned Design Dimensions, Deimco Inc., Spectrum Powder Coating, Sundaze Salon, SMK Industries, and Handy Industries/Jadeim as a co-owner.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Marshalltown Rotary International, Elmwood Country Club, Marshalltown Chamber of Commerce, Marshalltown Industrial Partnership, M.E.D.I.C., S.C.O.R.E., Susie Sower Trust, St. Paul Episcopal Church Treasurer, Junior Achievement Board of Directors and Big Brother volunteer.

Above all else, Tom loved his family and friends. He enjoyed family activities, playing with his grandchildren, photography, golfing, traveling, reading, late summer and early fall in Iowa, open field walking, time on the lake, cowboy movies and thunderstorms.

Tom was the ultimate entrepreneur. His spirit for entrepreneurship and business was intoxicating and spread to those around him. He thrived on developing and maintaining multiple business projects throughout his life. There was never a dull moment with Tom around--- he was a constant prankster with a tremendous sense of humor. Tom was an optimist, enjoying life to the fullest each day.

Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Becky Jo, his children; Aimee (Tom) Snyder, of Marshalltown, and Thomas L. Deimerly, of Marshalltown; grandsons: T.J., Spencer and Carson; his sister, Mary (Kevin) Newman, of Des Moines, brothers; Jerry (Nancy), of Cumming, Pat, of Clarion, and Dale (Kim), of Clarion.

He joins in eternal life his father John, his mother Mary, a sister Kathy Ahrens and a brother Jack Deimerly.
