Buford Basham Obituary

Buford "Travis" Basham Buford "Travis" Basham, who was born in Grandview, Texas on the 1st of February, 1939, passed away on the 7th of January, 2025 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loved ones. He was 85 years of age.

Travis proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. He was a Certified Public Accountant and business owner after earning his Bachelor's degree at SMU, and recently received his 50-year continuous member award at TXCPA. Travis was proud to spend his entire career in the oil and gas industry. In 1988, Travis co-founded a private oil and gas acquisition company. He loved chasing deals. He was well known for combining a common sense approach with technical acumen.

He loved God and his family with all of his heart. He enjoyed classic cars, fishing and hunting, and spending time at his ranch. Travis and Peggy met in middle school in Venus, Texas, then reconnected as young adults. They shared many adventures together after getting married in 1968, and raised their children in Boerne, Texas.

He was predeceased by his parents, Kermit and Frances Basham; and his brothers; Dwaine Basham and Malcolm Basham.

Travis is survived by Peggy Garner Basham, his wife of 57 years; sister Lleta and her husband, Ken Scoggins; daughter (Anne) Cheri Basham; son Bryan Travis Basham and his wife, Kelly Kirby Basham; 3 grandchildren, Haley Catherine, Emily Anne, and Avery Lynn; and many other family and friends.

Travis will be forever missed as a man of loyalty, integrity, humility, and generosity. His love and devotion as a husband, brother, father, and grandfather will be cherished unconditionally. We rejoice that he will find warmth in the Lord's embrace and forever rest in peace.
