Kevin Sharp Obituary

Kevin Duane Sharp passed away on Thursday, October 7, at his home with his family at his side. Kevin was born to Jerry and Betty Sharp on February 19, 1963. He was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi. Kevin was a husband of 41 years, having married his high-school girlfriend, Lilly Carvajal Sharp in 1980. She was his rock.

Kevin was a hard worker. He started working as an electrician's helper at age 17, progressing to Journeyman and earning his Master's license. He became President of Rabalais I&E. Kevin helped many people in their career paths along the way.

Kevin loved people, and everyone loved Kevin. He loved his family. He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and friends. Starting when his children were small, he participated in sports, never missing a game, attending many, many twirling events, and continuing with his grandchildren's activities such as baseball, golf, and cheerleading.

Kevin never met a stranger and treated everyone as a friend. He loved to entertain and barbeque for the masses. His home was full of family and friends.

Fishing was his passion, with hunting second. He and Lilly fished and hunted in Texas, Alaska, Cabo, Argentina, Florida, Louisiana, Belize, and Costa Rica. He had a collection of antique Bingo lures.

Kevin and Lilly organized a Skeet Shooting Team. It represented Rabalais I&E – then upon Kevin's retirement, it became the ReelSharps Shooting Team. It is recognized throughout South Texas as exemplary. Both Kevin and Lilly were active members of the team.

Kevin recognized good workmanship in handcrafted items from rustic outdoor furniture to welding to homemade quilts. He supported many children's school projects such as 4-H and FFA. He and Lilly were closely involved with Driscoll Children's Hospital and Wounded Warriors.

Kevin loved being a grandparent and sharing experiences. He and Lily took the kids to fancy places to eat this summer and accompanied Makai, who played on golf courses in the area. He was proud of everything the two of them did, and they excelled.

Kevin is preceded in death by grandparents Evelyn and Frank Sralla of Alice, Gladys and Chauncey Jones of Beeville, and in-laws Emma and Eddie Carvajal of Corpus Christi.

He is survived by his wife, Lilly, son Kevin Sharp, Jr. of Oklahoma; daughter Kimberly Sharp and husband Miguel Guzman of Dripping Springs, granddaughter Emma Guzman, grandson Makai Guzman. Brother Jerry Sharp, Jr. of Alaska. Nephews Taylor Sharp, Alaska, and Ryan Sharp (Amanda), Jett and Kayden of Katy. Also loved members of the Carvajal family who became his family. And his many friends.

Funeral arrangements are made for 10 a.m. on Friday, October 15, at Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi.
