I am so sorry for your loss. Only a parent who has lost a child...no matter how old... can fully understand the grief another feels at this time in our life. My daughter was only 5 months 2 days old that horrid day she died in a car accident. I just today found this site...and perhaps some of your grief has started to subside.... I pray it has... I want just to know that I can at least partially understand. I pray God's blessing on you and your remaining family... I want also to thank you for for sharing your son with all America... What happened to him was a horrible tragedy...God bless you all....Thank you again ...

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am.
My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Alex will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor to salute you with permission let me say even though I hold no rank know that from my heartmy humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
I Salute You.

Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Alex was a special person and that is because of how he was raised. He wanted to do something important with his life, which he did. He served our country and fought for us to keep the things that we take for granted, such as our freedoms. Alex died a hero and he sacrificed his life for what he believed to be important. He died a true hero and I for one am grateful to him and the other men and women in the military. I know for a fact these people are not thanked enough for their .service and sacrifice. The Bible says: ‘There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.” (John 15:13) That is what Alex did. He is now a guardian angel up in heaven looking watching & protecting you. He is not alone; he is in good company with Keith and my father-in-law Donald. Alex will never be forgotten.

Dear Alex, So many memories! When you were born. How when you smiled as an infant and those adorable dimples appeared, we all just had to smile back. Your ability to talk to anyone, any age, any time. Hanging with your family at Christmas time and watching your reaction when "Santa" came to visit you and Christina on Christmas Eve when you were little. How you were sick, when you first moved to Texas, but never complained. You became a strong young man who went on to become a great hockey player! Visiting you in Texas and how Ryan and Greg looked up to you, especially playing hockey with them in your driveway and watching your hockey games at the arena. When Uncle Kevin and I visited your elementary school class to talk about Philadelphia with your classmates. As you got older and our lives got busier, the visits became rarer, but we always kept up with your activities through your mom and dad - Your car(s), your sports activities, how you would get jobs around the neighborhood to earn money, remembered you on your birthday. It was an honor to attend your graduation from Navy Officers Candidate School in Rhode Island! We have always been so proud of you, no matter what your age. And so happy for you that you achieved your dream career. It was so awesome hanging out with you at Kim and John's wedding and the special times at Uncle Tommy's summer parties. Like we all had never been separated by time and distance. You have touched so many lives in your brief time here on earth. More than you know and you continue to do so! I will miss you so much! My heart aches for your parents and sister. But I know you are in heaven. I pray that I will be worthy enough to one day be greeted by you, Uncle Keith and all our loved ones who are in heaven too! Will love you always!

Well, Alex, you will be my favorite grandson until we are both home in heaven.

To the Viola family,
I did not have the pleasure of meeting your son but my daughter ,Jessica ( Mayeux) Fry ,graduated with him. She called me with this very sad news. It really hit her. My heart as a parent goes out to you all at this tragic loss of your son. His sacrifice will not go unnoticed. I run a commemorative static line parachute team comprised of active duty and retired ABN which honors all Veterans. In fact one of my jumpers, WO John Hawkins ,jumped with Alex before he deployed and had a lunch with him. We will remember and honor him.
