He was a loving husband and father who loved to be with his children and grandchildren. He was called "Big Bear" and "Buck," but his grandchildren called him "Poppie." Archie served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war, he graduated with a master's degree in 1963 from the University of North Texas. He retired from LTV and Lockheed. During his retirement, he loved to fish, travel and play dominoes. He was known for his jokes and stories. Archie was a faithful servant of the Lord and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

We met Buck at a Dawson Homecoming and quickly felt like long lost friends...Buck had that way about him. We feel truly blessed that the Lord saw fit to touch our lives by allowing us to know Buck...even in a small way. He will be missed.

Buck Baker was a beloved cousin of my Dad, Alvie Baker...son of Dillard and Pearl Baker. I guess that made him my second cousin. I remember him many years ago and regret that I didn't know him better especially in these latter years. I praise God he is with Him presently and with all our other beloved family. I say to his wife and children...this isn't good bye...just a pause of time and then there will be a future reunion when we get to heaven. What a glorious time that will be.
To his family and friends I say God Bless and comfort you and I love you very much. Hebrews 12:1

Our prayers are with the friends and family of this very special gentleman. Wish we could have been there in person to offer our condolences. Buck was a one of a kind. He will be greatly missed. Buck blessed each ones life that he touched even if he only had contact with them for short periods. He always remembered the important things in life, God, family, and friends. Our loss here on earth is heaven's gain.

"Buck" we will miss you and your smiling face as you and your help-meet, Mary greeted everyone each Sunday making them feel welcome as they were handed a bulletin. You even stayed out in the foyer to make sure to even catch any late comers.

I have known Buck for over 60 years. He was a good friend and I always was glad to be around him. He had a way of making you feel special. He was a master joke and story teller.
He was not a Dawson graduate but he worked harder than most graduates at the Ex-Students gathering each year at Homecoming. He was instrumental in helping with the printing of the Dawson Ex-Students Newsletter each quarter. He took his time to travel to Arlington to meet and take the Newsletter back to Burleson to have it printed at Burleson High School. When when it wes completed, he again drove to Arlington to meet and deliver the Newsletter.
He will certainly be missed.
