Atsuko Fukushima Obituary

The angels came and carried Atsuko Fukushima into the arms of her Maker on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was 80 and lost her battle with leukemia, but never lost her sense of humor. Service: The family's wishes are for private arrangements. Atsuko was born in Tokyo, Japan, but loved the United States and called it home. Until age 79, she continued to work six days a week with her husband at their family-owned Japanese sushi and steakhouse restaurant in Arlington. Her passions were working, interacting with her customers, playing bingo where she made many friends, and her family. She was fondly known as "Grandma Sushi" by her great-grandson, Caden Duncan. Mom will be missed more than words can express. Survivors: Husband, Kagami Fukushima; son, Johnnie Trammell and wife, Sandy; daughters, Linda Trammell Brown and Lisa Trammell Wichman and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Nicole Duncan and Kevin Brown, Samantha and Kelly Trammell; and three great-grandchildren.
