Attie Savelle Obituary

Attie T. Snow Savelle, 81, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, with her family by her side in Crowley. Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage of Faith Christian Center of Crowley. Her son, the Rev. Jerry Savelle, will officiate. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Henryetta, Okla., to Harvey and Crinter Mae Henderson Snow. After the death of her father, her mother moved her and her sisters to San Diego, Calif. It was there that this beautiful, young lady fell in love with Jerry W. Savelle, a member of the United States Navy. As soon as J.W. Savelle returned from serving our country in Okinawa and Iwo Jima in World War II, they were eager to get married in the winter of 1945. This "California girl" was moved from the beaches of sunny San Diego to the farmlands of Vicksburg, Miss. She was the proud mother of one son, Jerry J. Savelle, and one daughter, Shirley Mae Savelle. She was a portrait of the all-American "Happy Days" family. The family moved from Vicksburg, Miss., to Shreveport, La., and later spent their remaining years in the Fort Worth area. Attie served as the receptionist for her son's ministry, Jerry Savelle Ministries International, until her retirement. Her joyful nature and witty sense of humor had callers phoning back just to chat with "Miss Attie." She brought a smile to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wallace Savelle; sisters, Blanche Packwood and Shirley Thiry; and brother, Darryl Snow. Survivors: Miss Attie Savelle is survived by her son, Jerry J. Savelle and his wife, Carolyn Savelle; daughter, Shirley Mae Savelle; granddaughters, Jerriann Savelle Newton and husband, Caleb, Terri Savelle Foy and husband, Rodney, Kelli Rambin Hull and husband, D'Wayne, and Kimberly Mays Hall and husband, Roy; great-grandchildren, Mark James Savelle, Preston Savelle, Madison Everage, Dylan Everage, Bryn Bridges, Kai Newton, Kassidi Foy, Justin Alkire, Presli Alkire, Grasyn Hull, Nathan Hall, Sydney Hall and Kinsley Hall; and sisters, Erma Porter and Arvella McCroskey. Her niece, Brenda Boucher, lovingly cared for her until her passing.

Hard to believe it has been so long ago. Time has just gone by so fast. She was such a blessing and so good to stop and remember her love and strength this many years later. I know how much Don loved her and they are together now just having such a great time. Still, love and miss my Attie.

What a precious friend she was to me. We had some of the greatest memories. Just loved to go visit and just laugh and laugh. Just moved back to Texas and was so looking foward to seeing her. Our guess our next laughs will be in Heaven. What a time she is having today. We will all be together soon, what a Glorious day that will be.
God Bless you all, Jerry, Carolyn, JeriAnn and TeriLyn and all the grandkids and greats. In Jesus Love and Prayers, Glenda

I remember when I was 15 and we moved to Texas...we lived across the street from 'Grandma and Grandpa' Savelle. They made everyone feel loved and like family, their door was always open. That is one of my favorite memories! Holly (Hollingsworth) Johnston~Fort Worth

I will miss you so much Grandma. I loved our times together sitting at your dining room table, talking deep and eating Taco Bell. You have been a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother to my children. We will miss you so much...but see you again one day! Love, Jerriann
