Angels in heaven rejoiced at the arrival of Barbara Jan Cantrell, 67, on Monday, June 16, 2014. Celebration of life: 1 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Barbara was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Fort Worth to Harry Edward Bishop and LaVene Evetts Bishop. A resident of the Fort Worth area her entire life, she graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1965. Barbara received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Wesleyan University. She was an active member of The Hills Church of Christ in North Richland Hills. Barbara invested her time in people. She was an encourager, supporter and advocate for people in need. She was a caring person who helped anyone who needed her help. Her friendships were very important to her. The world has lost a caring soul and will miss Barbara's beautiful smile. Survivors: Sister, Beverly Jo Bishop of Garland; aunt and uncle, Ann and Lesley Fisher of Brownwood; and an extended family consisting of 29 first cousins and their families.

Beverly, Man alive, so much time has passed and Barbara remains such a bright star in my life....our lives. I have just reread these sweet notes from some of her friends and am, again, touched by BJB's legacy. She is in Heaven right now "working the room" and being the wonderful person God created her to be. She and my precious Mandy are now friends and Sunshine knows them both. Barbara is one of our treasures in Heaven. Beverly, you continue to be in my mind as the epitimy of a beloved sister and i am so happy for Barbara to have to have had you as her's. Barbara was sooooo much fun to be around and she always made me feel like i was fun too. Beverly, I didn't hear about Barb's death until after the weekend. Pat Holder sent me a note on Facebook Monday, and I felt like someone punched me in the stomach! I loved Barb so very much and even now as I look at her photo, I can't believe she's not in the world any longer. Trips we took together for work and pleasure were always fun. I just loved being with her and many of my best memories include Barb. If I could be anywhere right now, it would be with Barb at night in her den watching TV. She'd be filing her nails and we'd be talking about how much we loved Denzel Washington. Then she'd open her mail, stopping to read me something. If you ever have the time, I'd like to talk to you about Barb's health conditions that caused us to lose her. You can reach me @ 512-868-1742. I'm retired and easy to reach. I always have and will love Barb dearly. No one will ever be able to make me laugh like she could. Please accept my sincere condolences, Beverly.

Beverly......i am writing to you, becausem Mary Sims chose to write to you on Barbara's guest book and I thought that if Barbara had any desire it would include a hope that the friends you shared would get in touch with you.....you were her ever present help in her times of need......seeing your tenderness to your baby sister was always appreciated so much by me.....beautiful example of unconditional love and the spirit of servanthood...you, my dear one, are in my prayers as each day passes..that you will know how cherished you were to Barbara and also to your own friends and that includes me. If you ever want to go on a littl trip, i would love for you to come visit me and we could talk and cry and laugh at sweet precious memories of times you and Barbara and Sunshine and the Cardwell girls shared as we were growing up in this world. I knew Barbara from working with her at Brentwood Properties. She was a great leader and someone who influenced my future in property management! One of the 1st things I remember her saying to our classroom full of new managers was, “look around you, some of you will not make it here.” I was determined she wasn't talking to me! She helped you be the best you could be!

Beverly....we were so sorry to hear about Barbara...we knew she was not healthy and in rehab but did not know how sick she was...we will always remember her smile and the attention she paid to Jim's sister will never be forgotten..she is now where there are no tears and no pain. Dear Rosemary, I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I lost my Dad in 2004 and my mother August 1, 2005. Nothing prepares us for this kind of loss. I loved your mother. She embraced all of your friends and gave great advice. I will pray for all of you and think of you often.

My husband and I, plus our two daughters were next door neighbors to Barbara for 21 years. She was the first neighbor we met, and the longest we ever lived next door to the same family. My very dearest almost life long friend. We managed to stay in touch throughout the years and always on our birthdays. Our last conversation, via e-mail, a few months ago, she promised me, when she was stronger and could function better, she would call me. We never got that chance.
