I had never been in a choir except for a couple community productions of Amahl with my sister in Colorado and The Gold Tones Show Choir was my first foray in music on my own. Brenda and the Gold Tones embraced me as a tenor and accepted me even though I didn't read music (and only do so slightly even now). As a director and as a friend, she was intimidating yet empowering, demanding yet encouraging. She built my confidence as a singer and inspired me to try to improve. Music has given me so much joy in recent years and I have Brenda to thank for it. I don't think I told Brenda enough how much she meant to me and how much she enriched my life. I will try Saturday to sing with the Gold Tones at her funeral without dissolving into tears and if I succeed, I know how proud she would be of me. Thank you Brenda. I miss you and will never forget you.

Brenda will be missed by a lot of people like me, one who can't really sing until she brings it out. She was a great teacher and friend. God got Himself a great choir director in her.

Brenda will always have a special place in my heart! I sing in a philanthropic choir today because of the help she gave me !
