Bryan Boyd Obituary

Bryan Douglas Boyd, beloved son, brother, friend, trainer and uncle, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, March 11, 2013, assured by his faith in Jesus Christ from his childhood to manhood. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Thursday at Christ Chapel. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole. Gym clothes are expected. Memorials: Bryan was deeply touched by The Wounded Warriors Foundation, which supports many who wrestle with insomnia, TBI, and physical limitations as a result of their service. Gifts in his memory may be given to Texas Wounded Warrior, 4301 Fillbrook Lane, Tyler, Texas 75707. Bryan was born Jan. 26, 1975, in Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up and loved what is tenderly called "The Fort." He will be missed by many from Hulen to Seventh Street to Camp Bowie, and remembered for his energy, his humor and his compassion. He had a passion for his clients and for the Kettlebell training he brought to the gym as he trained young athletes, teenagers, business men and women, as well as his elderly grandmother. His smile and compassion and his "full-tilt boogie" attitude often took you one step further and one step healthier. He put his psychology degree from Texas Wesleyan to work as he motivated his clients to combine their workouts with healthy eating. He loved being in the back room at Inursha, shaping up his client with bells, TRX, boxing, ropes, and various combinations that took the boring out of fitness. Both friends and his clients never expected Bryan to be boring. Snowboarding and all-out mountain biking, both in Colorado and along the Trinity, fed Bryan's love for action and the outdoors. His many friends knew his humor, his honesty, his tender heart, his faults, his victories, and that he was always available to listen and encourage as they did life. He also was quick to say or post encouraging motivators or praise for his God. The Glasshouse community of AA was a source of comfort, support and rock-solid unconditional love that Bryan appreciated and loved. The family would like to thank all our friends for their support as our loss is great. We all loved each other deeply, forgave often, laughed heartily, and teased relentlessly. Bryan's ongoing battle with insomnia is won and he rests in his Father's arms. Survivors: He will be missed by his family: Dr. Douglas Boyd and wife, Sara, Heather Boyd Lee, Scott Lee, Bradley Boyd, Rebecca Brooks, precious niece, Audrey Elizabeth, and nephew, Boyd Patrick.

Bryan,

What a pleasure it was training with you all through my college tenure. I'm not sure there was a single topic we did no discuss! Thank you for your insight, your strength and the belief in me. An absolute gentlemen you were, to everyone around you. That doesn't mean you may or may not have had a few choice words to some choice people at times, but then again - haven't we all.

During such a formative time, your constancy and presence always enabled me to remain mindful of my goals. You were a great man, a wonderful friend, and an exceptional teacher. Thank you my friend, and rest in peace.

Very Highest Regards,
Hunter Perot

Bryan,

I just want to say I love you brotha! I will miss your big bear hugs your smile you were a encourager to a lot of people! You finished the game of life as a leader. I was out of town when I got the news on caring bridge while reading Whitney Wilson's comments about how sad Jackson would be to hear the news if He was not sick! He knew how to spot the good guys and you were won of them! I will miss seeing you at the sunflower shoppe and yoga. I love you Bryan and know you are standing next to the right hand of the Father when I pass one day please meet me at the door with your smile and a great big hug. I am sorry I was out of town otherwise I would have been at the memorial.

Sara and Doug, I cannot express how deeply saddened Claire and I were to hear of Bryan passing away. We are grateful that he and our son Justin had been friends since elementary school and the times he visited us he was nothing but a kind and gracious young man. I know in my heart that you will all be together again and I pray that our Lord and Savior will wrap his arms around the both of you and his brother and sister, comforting you all in the knowledge that he is with him in heaven.

Dr and Mrs Boyd- although not truly knowing your son personally; it sounds as though he had a large impact on ALOT of lives . May he rest peacefully in our Saviors arms .

March 14, 2013

Bryan was the first to defend the weak and stand up when needed. He was also a good man that just wanted fairness to all. I thought to myself when I ran into to him a couple of months ago that he was in a really good place and I was right. He's in the best place of all now. My prayers to the family but he is free and I think that is the best result of all.

March 14, 2013

My prayers are with the Boyd family. Bryan had a heart of gold and his smile was contagious, I can only imagine a bigger smile thinking of him looking at Jesus. He will be missed.

March 13, 2013

Dr. and Mrs. Boyd, I am so saddened to hear about your loss. In so many words, Bryan was such a great guy and he will be deeply missed. We were friends very early and he never forgot that, nor will I. But then again, he had so many friends. Bryan was special. My heart goes out to you and your family, and there is so much about him I will never forget.

Love, Frank

Though I never had the privilege of knowing Bryan, I did know Bradley and Heather. It was a joy to be Heather's Kindergarten teacher and to see her infrequently through the years as well as Sarah. Bryan had come to mean so much to our family as he was our grandson, Torre Stella's trainer. Torre counted Bryan as his closest friend outside our family circle. His loss is indescribable to Torre. Torre amused us when he would tell us he needed to contact Bryan for his thoughts on different situations that came up! He always looked forward to going to work-out and was very concerned that he be prompt. We are so very thankful for the gift of friendship that Bryan gave Torre and for the inspiration and encouragement he was to him. Boyd family we love you and support you with our prayers and love. Eternity is richer today with the gift of Bryan.

I was so sorry to learn of Bryan's death. We are in California this week, and oddly enough our daughter in London let us know this happened. No words are adequate to a moment like this. Judging from his obituary you have many wonderful memories of Bryan and I trust they will sustain you in the days and months ahead. Every child is a gift and it sounds like Bryan was a very special one. Bronson Davis

The angels in heaven will be getting in shape soon, swinging kettle bells and hearing the words that Bryan would tell me when I was about to quit-" just 3 more! YOU ARE STRONG!" While building my strength for 2 1/2 years we built something even more precious, a friendship. I thought the world of Bryan. Sleep in peace dear one. I will keep your memory alive.

March 13, 2013

I had the privilege of calling Bryan my best friend during elementary and middle school, and a good friend in years later after parting ways to attend different high schools. During that time, the Boyds were like my second family. I remember Bryan as a natural athlete, a fierce competitor, fearless, fun, and a loyal friend. We shared many great times and adventures throughout the Tanglewood and Overton Park neighborhoods. My heart goes out to the Boyd family and I will keep you in my prayers.

Dr. and Mrs. Boyd, Bradley, and Heather: My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days, months & years ahead. I have know Bryan since AHHS and have reconnected with him twice since. For sadly a brief while in 1996 and luckily again from 2010 to now. Bryan was one of the most positive, encouraging and uplifting forces I have know. He helped so many of my clients achieve a healthier and more satisfying life. His smile, motivation and wisdom will live on in everyone's life he touched! I am so sorry for your family's loss and offer my sincerest condolences.

We felt so fortunate to have a front row seat watching sweet Bryan grow up next door for so many years. He was always kind to our children and friendly and respectful to Bob and to me. My life is much richer for having known him. From his years playing laser tag in the cul-de-sac with the neighborhood kids to his high school years as an extraordinarily gifted athlete and beyond into adulthood he was always a joy to know.
