Cathy Sherman- Scheeler
June 16, 1957 - October 29, 2021
Grand Prairie, Texas - Cathy Sherman was born on Father's Day, June 16,1957 in Columbia, Missouri. Growing up in the natural surroundings of the Ozarks nurtured her fascination and love for all of nature.
She graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Finance and became a tax auditor for the city of Phoenix. Later, she pursued a career with the airlines, initially with TWA in Kansas City, while earning her CPA certification. Cathy traveled to many countries in Europe for business and some for pleasure, before relocating to Grand Prairie in 2002 to work as a senior financial analyst for American Airlines.
She loved sports and games, especially tennis, and her friends agreed, was a Wheel of Fortune expert. She had a knack for decorating and a good eye for color pallet. She liked to watch the cooking shows and experiment with new recipes. Cathy was also active as a precinct election judge in Grand Prairie.
She married Tom Scheeler in 2015 and they had a wonderful marriage, traveling throughout the USA and Canada. Always being intrigued by maps and planning the next trip, Cathy had a strong desire to visit each of the 50 states Her illness unfortunately prevented her from visiting the final state of Montana, so family and friends will scatter her ashes in Montana to complete her journey.
Cathy died October 29, 2021 from pancreatic cancer after a 16 month illness. We will always miss her smile and warm heart.
Cathy is survived by her husband Tom Scheeler, her mother, Loraine Sherman, her cousins, Bill Merz, Elaine Sue Fry, Shirley McRay, and her longtime rescue cats, Roxie and Jett.
