Charles Cradduck Obituary

Charles Curtis Cradduck, 75, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at his home in Coppell, surrounded by love from family and friends. Service: As per Curtis' wishes, there will be no memorial services. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Chronic Disease Fund Foundation Assistance Program, 6900 N. Curtis was born May 29, 1936, to John Merrill and Magalena Cradduck in Fittstown, Okla. He attended school in Tecumseh, Okla. In 1955, he graduated from Pampa High School. He attended the University of Oklahoma. On Dec. 23, 1956, Curtis married Marilynn Kay Spooner in Ottawa, Kan. They were married 54 years. That same year he started his long career with Carlson and Cradduck Construction Co. He eventually bought the company from his father and partner, Jerry Carlson. He had offices in Pampa and Bridgeport. After many successful years, he sold the business in 1985, retiring at the age of 49. After retirement he was a home and pool contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area until 2005. Curtis was a certified pilot who owned and flew several planes, including his beloved Beechcraft Bonanza A-36. He loved racing and breeding American quarter horses. He was part owner of a mare that qualified for the All American Futurity in 2000. Curtis volunteered at the Male Health Institute in Irving. He and Marilynn enjoyed a long and happy retirement, touring the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. They purchased a home in 1995 in Coppell and have resided there ever since. Curtis left a legacy of undeniable strength, honor, compassion and loyalty. He loved life and his family and is a man who will always be remembered for his generous spirit and amazing sense of humor. He will be missed by all who loved him. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors: Wife, Marilynn; daughters, Kim Kubinski and P.K. Thomas of Weatherford, Viki and Steve Gage of Fort Worth and Leigh Ann and Dan Adams of Decatur; granddaughters, Aimee Hadnot, Courtney Roe, Whitney Gage and Miranda Kubinski; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carsyn Sapp; and many loving nieces and nephews.
