Christopher Sign Obituary

Christopher Paul Sign
June 12, 2021
Hoover, Alabama - Christopher Paul Sign, age 45, died on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in Hoover, Alabama. Born in Arlington, Texas, Chris had the opportunity to play football under two legendary coaches, Lamar High School's Eddy Peach and University of Alabama's Gene Stallings. Upon graduation, Chris moved into broadcasting where he held first reporting and then anchor positions on ABC affiliates in Phoenix, AZ and Birmingham, AL. An award-winning journalist, he earned the Edward R. Murrow Award and several Emmys for journalism excellence as well as gaining national attention for his investigative work. This led to the publishing of his first book, Secret on the Tarmac. Christopher bragged that the source of his happiness was his wife, Laura, and their three boys. Being raised with 4 siblings who filled his home with friends and noise, he enjoyed duplicating that experience with his own boys and their friends. Chris worked to make the world around him a better place through community service, mentoring colleagues, coaching his boys, and always seeking the truth. Known as a friend to all and a defender of what is good and right in this world, he will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Chris was proceeded in death by his father Robert Sr. and grandparents and is survived by his wife Laura LeBlanc Sign and their three boys Hampton, Charlie, and Anderson; mother Susan Sign; brothers Robert Jr. (Andrea), Steven (Suzanne), Matthew (Allyson) and sister Stefanie Sign Jichi Ulmer; nieces Hannan, Sarah, Gabriella, Elaine, Marleigh and nephews Adam and Seth. The Sign Family will gather together in Arlington on July 10 to celebrate his outstanding life. Please contact a Sign Family member for details.

I want to send my condolences to the family. I am so sorry for the loss. Chris was my friend for many years. He was a great man. A loving father, and a wonderful husband. He made this world a much brighter place. I am so sorry that I cannot make the memorial gathering. Just know that the whole Kord family is there in spirit.
