Cinthia Lukaszewski Obituary

Cinthia Ann Lukaszewski, known as "Wyla" to her friends and family, a beloved wife, mother and daughter, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. Wyla didn't want a funeral service; instead, a "celebration of life" reception is being hosted to honor her memory. The afternoon lunch reception is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Worth Medical Center. For details regarding the reception, please call 817-965-9781. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Wyla would hope you perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need. Wyla was born April 21, 1952, in Los Angeles, Calif. Her parents, Ron and Marlene Johnson, raised her in Los Angeles, Calif., and Minneapolis, Minn. Wyla was a free spirit. At a young age she traveled with carnivals touring the Untied States and parts of Canada. Although she never mastered the trapeze, she did ride on an elephant and she managed to visit 47 of the lower 48 states (never made it to Florida). She worked for Boroughs Computers assembling mainframe computers in a time when a computer filled an entire room. She had a talent for streamlining processes and reducing assembly times. Wyla worked in the entertainment business as an exotic dancer. Traveling a circuit from Houston to Bossier City, La., to Hot Springs, Ark., she would perform as a feature dancer at various clubs. Over the years she shared numerous recollections of meeting a variety of celebrities of the day like Ace Cannon, Jim Nabors and, one of her favorites, Cher. She loved dancing; in particular, she enjoyed performing at the Stork Supper Club in Bossier City ultimately leading to her taking up residence there and starting a family. After retiring from the entertainment business, she worked for Frymasters Corporation. She took great pride in having worked in every area of the plant manufacturing fryers and microwaves. Wyla was married four times; her philosophy on marriage was to never stay with the same partner beyond four years. That changed with her fourth marriage. On June 13, 1980, a Friday, Wyla married Lawrence Lukaszewski. Together they shared an adventure spanning over 36 years. An Air Force family, they traveled from Bossier City to Camp New Amsterdam in the Netherlands. While stationed there for four years, Wyla was the Red Cross Chairman of Volunteers for Camp New Amsterdam. Upon returning to the U.S. they were stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio where Wyla was an active volunteer with the Kirby Animal Shelter. In 1986 she started and managed the Pet Location Center using a computerized database to match animals reported as lost with their owners. Wyla loved animals and personally rescued and placed animals when there was no room in the shelters. While living in Austin, Wyla became active in community television as a producer. She produced television programs to raise community awareness of local issues. She was a skilled photographer and videographer often donating her time to various causes and special occasions celebrated by friends and family. Wyla had a sense for people. She loved being able to help those in need, to comfort those in trouble and to rescue those in despair. She made a habit of helping strangers; of offering aid to those less fortunate. She had a huge heart full of love for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her dad, Ronald H. Johnson, and her brother, Robert W. Johnson. Survivors: Wyla is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Lawrence Lukaszewski of Fort Worth; their daughter, Suzanne Williams and husband, Justin, of Bossier City, La.; their son, Ron and wife, Kelli, of McKinney; their granddaughter, Savannah Lewwe and grandson, Dakota Dickson; her mother, Marlene Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her brother, Richard Johnson of Baker, Calif. Wyla had numerous friends and extended family all of whom were extremely important to her. They include Jackie Blair; Patsy Cannon; Mike Hansen; Clive Doyle; Pat Noworsky; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

The Final Salute

Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Mrs. Cinthia Ann {Wyla} Lukaszewski a loving U.S. Air Force wife who provided dedicate service to her country, her community and her family. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Wyla. And to Wyla it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her many community volunteer activities, her devotion to her husband, her family, the U.S. Air Force and her country. Only a military wife knows the difficulties and great sacrifices associated with rearing a military family that relocated frequently and that often included long separations from the one they loved most and anxious moments of concern for their safety. Wyla, your community service activities are greatly appreciated. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Mrs. Wyla's family and loved ones.

When I met her I knew she was of a different time. This obituary gives me a much deeper knowledge of the woman I met. She'll be very missed. Wish I could have known her longer. RIP My Friend
