Clinton Dobson Obituary

Clinton Roderick Dobson, 28, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Arlington. Celebration of life: A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Arlington, followed by a graveside service in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Truett Seminary Memorial Fund in honor of Clint Dobson or to Living Water International Ministry. Clinton Roderick Dobson was born July 15, 1982, in Webster to Roderick and Sharon Dobson. Clint's life was short in years but long in impact on the people around him. For his family and friends, he modeled the love of Christ. For his church, he was shepherd and servant. Clint's life in Clear Lake was a picture of the love of God, family and his many lifelong friends. Clint was passionate about music-teaching himself to play the guitar and the piano. He loved sports and told many stories about his years of football and baseball and the times of working on projects with his father. Clint was a graduate of Clear Lake High School in 2000 before entering Baylor University. He graduated in 2004 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and obtained his master of divinity degree in 2008 from George W. Truett Theological Seminary where he was named Preacher of the Year in 2008. It was during his time at Baylor that he met and then married the love of his life, Laura Rozeman Dobson. No couple shared more love between them and with others than Clint and Laura-a couple that lit up the heart of everyone around them. Clint served as pastor of Purmela Baptist Church from 2007-2008 and NorthPointe Baptist Church from 2008 until his death. The foundation of Clint's life was the Word of God. His mission in life was teaching the Word-that people would understand the beauty and truth of God's Word. Capturing the beauty of Clint Dobson's life in an obituary is not possible. It can only be captured with the embrace of his Lord and Savior and the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant." He was predeceased by grandfather, Vernon Killian, and grandparents, Ettie and Lamar Dobson. Survivors: Clint is survived by his wife, Laura Rozeman Dobson; mother and father, Roderick and Sharon Dobson; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Melissa Kirchmer; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Rob Mitchell; grandmother, Marie Killian; nieces, Kate Kirchmer and Ella Mitchell; nephew, Trevin Sonnier; and uncles, Steve Killian, wife, Linda, and family, and Alan Killian, wife, Debra, and family.

My Condolances to his family.

Clint! Were to start? A Pastor, a husband, a son, a guy who shared the word of GOD, and most of all... my best friend! I went to North Pointe. And Clint was the nicest person there. I have so many memories with him. I would call him Clifford the BIG Red Dog and he would call me Ape. The only person ever allowed to call me Ape! I don't get why this had to happen, but out of it came a wake up call for most. I just can't wait till the day when we all stand hand in hand, infront of God.! But untill then all we can do is pray!

To the Family of Rev. Dobson. I could not understand this tragedy until one night in the wee hours I asked God, Lord,
Where were you when one of yours was taken in such a terrible way? He told
me that He was there just like He was
there when Stephen was killed! Acts 7:54-60 and Stephen looked up and saw Jesus
standing on the right hand of God and I
knew that Rev. Dobson was not alone in that terrible thing! I hope that this will give you all comfort in this knowledge. Sincerely, Norma Martin-Fort Worth, Texas

I had the pleasure of teaching this fine young man in junior high. As a young man Clint had a gift for making everyone who crossed his path feel special...I shall miss that grin! Sharon you were gleaming when talking with me at home depot a few months ago about Clint and Laura and the wonderful life they had. My family is praying that your memories of Clint stay strong. Dear Laura and all of the family, you are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. This is such an unthinkable tragedy that we will never understand. Clint was such a godly man full of life, love, laughter, compassion, integrity, and I could go on and on. I know Heaven is rejoicing but our hearts are aching. May we look to our Lord and Savior for strength during this difficult time. We will never forget you, Clint. You will be missed.

It seems harder after some time has passed when someone we love has gone.
Know that while I did not know Clint, my heart is still tied to those left to mourn. Bearing with you now, and praying for your peace. He must have lived well and done his work quickly for him to finish and go home so young. I'm 28 and headed to the mission field soon. Clint is an inspiration for me, and I look forward to telling him that in eternity. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Laura, family and friends of Rev. Dobson,
Our hearts are broken as you grieve the death of a husband, son, friend and minister. By all accounts, he lived out his various roles reflecting the love of Jesus and with the passion of a servant of God who is sure of his mission. There is no explanation for his death that will bring comfort. But our God is good, He is righteous, His purpose will stand, and Rev. Dobson is celebrating the culmination of his faith and hope in the presence of our beloved Savior. You are in our constant prayers. May God's peace bring you every comfort and blessing in the days ahead.

I read that one of Pastor Dobson's favorite bible verses was John 1:5 in his First Baptist Church Arlington online biography. It reads, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it". Pastor Dobson's little church has been filled by so many people from every corner of this earth with such love.
