Stephen Daniel Kmetz, 34 of Houston, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in Houston, TX.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Monsignor Philip Halfacre will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, January 24th at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.

Stephen was born April 15, 1991 in Streator to Daniel W. Kmetz and Tamra L. (Broyles) Kmetz.

He is survived by his father, Daniel (Valerie) Kmetz of Streator; his mother, “Madre” Tamra (Gregory) Williams of Houston, TX; his step-father, Daniel Grabe of Kemah, TX; three siblings, Ryan (Ericka) Kmetz of Braidwood; Paij “Seester” (Trevor) Kmetz-Windus of Santa Fe, TX, and Eric (Paulomi) Kmetz of Portland, TX; and three step-brothers and sisters, Kori (Alex) Libby, Thomas Rhodes and Kyle Rhodes, all of Streator. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Donna Retoff of Streator; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert & Joyce Kmetz; maternal grandfathers, Terry Broyles and Robert Retoff; and a cousin who was also called home too soon, Garett Towner.

Stephen was graduated from Clear Lake High School in the class of 2010, in Houston, Texas.

Stephen was a gentle soul who found comfort in music, bike rides, and watching races. He enjoyed camping and loved his flight lessons and racing karts when he was younger. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family, who meant everything to him.

Stephen faced quiet battles that sometimes made life difficult, but even in his own struggles, he showed compassion for everyone and had a constant need to help others whenever he could.

God has called Stephen home. With no more struggles nor pain, he is at peace.
