Dan Sherman Mitchell

Fort Worth, Texas, Texas - Dan Sherman Mitchell, 91, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 3, 2025. Dan was born in Fort Worth on December 27, 1933, to parents Ernest and Imogene Mitchell and lived in Haltom City until his enlistment in the Air Force.

He is survived by Joyce, his wife of almost 70 years; children, Theresa Mitchell and wife Ani Haines, Kathleen Tyger Bailey, and Carolyn Mitchell; granddaughter Sylvia Maya Mitchell; Sister Lorene Leslie; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and in-laws Dottie Jean Mitchell (widow of Foy Mitchell), Richard Williams and wife Glenda, and Barry Williams and wife Ann. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Roy Mitchell and wife Margie, brother Foy Mitchell, sister LaRue (Rudy) Cardwell and husband Jack Cardwell, son-in-law Michael Barrett (husband of Carolyn Mitchell), and Mother and Father-in-law Juanita Williams and C.L. Sneed.

Dan graduated from Birdville High School in Haltom City, where he played football for the Birdville Buffalos. He served his enlistment in the Air Force at West Palm Beach, Florida. Back in Texas, he earned his BS Degree from TCU, his MBA Degree from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, and his CPA License. After honing his accounting skills across Texas and into Oklahoma in banking and manufacturing, he opened his own Public Accounting Practice, serving many diverse businesses and clients. He retired in 2017 and slowed down.

Dan loved his family, his friends, his clients who became friends, and TCU football games. He was a Christian and a Gentleman. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Matthew's United Methodist Church where he was a member, 2414 Hitson Lane, Fort Worth, 76112, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31. A light luncheon will follow.
