David Jones Obituary

David Thomas Jones

June 27, 1932 - July 2, 2024

Arlington, Texas - David Thomas Jones, 92, passed away on July 2, 2024.

David was born on a farm near Holton, Kansas on June 27,1932. Dave's dad won a hat on a bet that it would be a boy. He had three sisters, Camille, Shirley, and Patricia, all deceased.

His parents, John and Pauline Jones, had a wonderful cafe in Denison, Kansas for 26 years. Dave was well-liked by the girls and by the guys. In this small town, basketball and cars were very important. He and four classmates joined the Air Force at the same time in 1952. He met and married Anne Funston in 1952, as well. They had three children, Steven, Keith, and Barbara. A veteran, he had tours in Korea and Thailand.

After 26 years in the Air Force, he retired as Master Sergeant. He then worked for 22 more years at Lockheed Martin. Always a hard worker, he often had two jobs to support his family until Anne started teaching.

He loved playing volleyball, square dancing, cars, and taking road trips with his family. He kept an immaculate yard, and after retiring from Lockheed, he picked up trash in the neighborhood several times a week.

He and Anne had eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Always cheerful, he could always make Anne laugh. He once said his middle initial stood for trustworthy. He was, indeed.

He and Anne were sweethearts to the end.
