David Maley Obituary

David "Kip" Maley
January 22, 1959 - July 30, 2022
North Richland Hills, Texas - David Kip Maley, age 63, passed away on July 30th, 2022, succumbing to complications related to his long and heroic battle with Cancer. Although his passing is a great loss to those who knew and loved him, he will be remembered as a beacon to his family and professional community.
Kip's adolescence was filled with achievements, most notably he achieved the coveted Eagle Scout rank with the Boy Scouts of America. Kip was led to this trail blazing achievement at the side of his very active Scout Master and stepfather, Gregg Daniell.
A graduate of Richland High school in 1977 (North Richland Hills, Texas), Kip exhibited a passion for the Arts early in his education and demonstrated an extraordinary gift as an artist. In 1998 Kip found a home at the Craft Guild in Dallas, Texas. Kip's contribution to the Craft Guild included Teaching, assisting other Instructors, and contributing to other departments at the Craft Guild. Kip's longstanding contributions to the Craft Guild will remain a legacy to his name.
In addition to his glass blowing, painting, and pottery skills, Kip enjoyed spending time in his greenhouse nurturing his vast array of flowers; he loved his Orchids and surrounded himself with beauty.
Kip's passing was preceded by his beloved stepfather, Royce Gregg Daniell in 2013, and is survived by his mother, Jeanette Marie Daniell and siblings Karie, Lance, Cynthia, Charlie, Mayme, Stepbrothers, Gregg and David, his Aunt Mary Lee, and close cousins Kathy and Lynn. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Kip was an incredible person who lived his passions; his influence on those close to him will not be forgotten. In a world desperately in need of light, Kip's light shown brightest and those blessed to know him will keep that light burning. May he rest in Peace. A memorial service will be held at The Craft Guild in Dallas on Sunday, September 25th, at 4:30 PM at 3410 Midcourt Rd, Suite 115, Carrollton, TX. 75006 to celebrate the life of Kip. We invite family and friends to join us in a potluck dinner immediately following. Please bring your fondest memories and one of Kip's favorite dishes to share with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Graft Guild at craftguildofdallas.org (Donate in memory of David Kip Maley.)

I knew Kip for 15 years. We went to conferences/workshops/classes together, shared fun times and lots of laughs. He was my teacher, my mentor, my go-to guy but most of all he was my friend. I will miss him greatly.

I completely agree that Kip was a bright light in this world. We shared many laughs and hugs in the short time I was able to spend with him at Glass Stock in 2009 and 2010. He definitely made a lasting impression and I am blessed to call him friend. We'll all miss you sir.

I graduated from Richland High with Kip. He was always fun to be around. A very decent person who I never heard say a bad thing about anybody. He will definitely be missed.
