David Phillips Obituary

David B. Phillips
June 10, 1964 - December 31, 2020
Hudson Oaks, Texas - David B. Phillips, 56, passed away on New Year's Eve after a very short and courageous battle with Metastatic Brain Cancer.
A service will be held at a later date.
Memorials: Donations in his memory can be made to the Patriot House for Veterans run by The Presbyterian Night Shelter of Tarrant County.
He was the third child born to Thomas and Katsuko Phillips in Rantoul, Illinois. Being an Air Force family, they relocated to Volcano, Hawaii before being transferred to Fort Worth when he was in 3rd grade. He will be remembered as a loving, dedicated, and strong-willed man.
David and Lisa's 33 - year adventure began when they met and married at USPA&IRA (now First Command) where David worked for 38 years. He was the ultimate family man and there was nothing more important. He was known for his big smile, tenacity, kindness, and the guy who got things done. He loved to hitch up the camper and head out for both favorite destinations and new adventures.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; brother, Mike; and brother-in-law, Joe.
Survivors: Wife, Lisa; daughters, Christina (Kwirt) and Valerie (Jacob); three wonderful grandchildren; sister, Jean Gambsky; and brother, Johnny Phillips. Grandsons, Greyson and Asher (his mini-me) were the 'boys he never had' and he cherished his time with them all.

It was an absolute honor to have him as part of our family: a kind and loving husband; a wonderful father and grandfather, and the best brother-in-law ever ~ even if I did want to smack him every time he fell over laughing so hard about that stupid picture!!! I love you, David. You will stay in my heart forever. ❤❤❤

I can hardly believe my little brother David has passed. Like for many families, this past year with Coronavirus Covid-19 has made even grieving difficult beyond words.
David was a loving, extremely hard working, funny, honorable man of good character. He always made me smile and laugh to tears and was always there when I needed him.
He leaves a legacy of a family who loves him with all our hearts and holds him in our hearts and minds until we meet again someday.
We will never know why David has been called home to to be with the Lord so soon, but the Lord always has a plan. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Lisa and family and Johnny, your family in Hawaii love and miss you all, especially right now. May God bless you and always keep you in His loving arms.
A dear friend shared with me "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal."
I love you David! You make me proud to be your big sister. Thanks for all the memories! A Hui Hou...Until we meet again.
Me Ke Aloha Pumehana...With all my love,
Jean
