Dawn Cornwell-Brooks Obituary
Celebration of life: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Dawn was born Dec. 15, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. Dawn was a generous, compassionate person who loved life. She will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Dawn was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Betty Cornwell and Lester "Bud" Borgus; and maternal grandparent, Ralph Adkins.
Survivors: She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Shaelyn; her daughter's father, Cabel Brooks; parents, Michael Cornwell and Rick and Terri Borgus; grandparents, Wilma Adkins, Carol and Grady Brooks, Ruth Borgus and Lois Louise Brooks; brother, Eric Borgus; and numerous other loving family, friends and pets.

Dawn died while enjoying a beautiful sunny day with wind blowing through her hair as she rode her motorcycle. She and close friends were having the best day! She died with no one seeing the accident. We know she was riding into the sunlight and she didn't realize she had drifted just s few inches too far right. Her bike hit a light pole and we were told she died upon impact. She is buried in Fort Worth in the Everlasting Love section of Mt Olivet Cemetary.
Her headstone reads...Dawn Suzanne Brooks...Close your eyes and think of me, Our love remains, I share it with thee
I miss her everyday. She left a young daughter here who makes life without her more bearable. Sending you kisses in the wind my sweet girl. Merry Christmas from Mom.

Missing you threw the years but when December comes and the Christmas music starts it reminds me of you and always makes me smile. Your mother is such a gift to me and the more I watch Shaelyn grow up the more she reminds me of you. You did good making that baby. She's perfect!!

Well sweetie, another year has almost passed and there is rarely a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Each time I call out my baby girl's name you are there. I miss you as much today as I did when we lost you... Keep watching over us. Love you!

After these 5 1/2 years, there are still days when loosing you feels so fresh and painful.
Today Shaelyn attended the funeral of a friend, only 9 years old - her own age, killed along with her grandmother in an auto accident. So senseless for everyone.
We miss you my sweet girl. Hope you are doing loop-to-loops in heaven.

Dawn was simply the most amazing person I have ever met! She could put a smile on my face at anytime, I cant believe she is gone, I miss her every second of every day. I truly feel blessed that I was lucky enough to have her in my life, even though it was far to short a time. My heart and prayers go to her parents, and daughter, who I know miss her even more than I do.

Message from Dawn's Mother:
Not every person in this world if fortunate enough to share the love, laughter and joys of being in a family as we have. We shared a deep and powerful love; and the loss of Dawn leaves me overwhelmed at times. But I know how fortunate and blessed we have been to have her in our lives, even for this brief time.
Her father, Rick and I both thank you for the love, kindness & prayers that we have received from family, friends and brief acquaintances.

I meet Dawn one time at a bike night we hold every month in FortWorth. I didn't get to know her very well, but from meeting her the one time she seemed like a very nice person. My prayers and thoughts go out to the loved ones she left behind.

I am truly sorry for the loss of Dawn in this tragic way. I only had the chance to meet her a few times. But she always had a smile on her face and was very pleasant to talk to. She was very good to my daughter Grace. I know that she will never forget Dawn and Shaelyn. She was a very pretty young lady and I know that she will be greatly missed by those who knew her well. Dawn was a very out going person that had a wonderful personality and every one that met her instantly loved her. Although I have only known her for about a year she became a very good and close friend that will be deeply missed!! God Bless Shaelyn and the rest of Dawn's family......
