Debra Malone Obituary

Debra Malone

December 19, 1953 - September 22, 2023

Fort Worth, Texas - Debbie Malone, 69, a devoted mother, beloved wife, and dear friend to many, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2023.

Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at University Christian Church, in Fort Worth on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11 am.

Debbie was born on December 19, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, and was a life-long resident of Fort Worth. She graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1972, where she was a journalist for the school newspaper, and studied English and journalism at Texas Wesleyan University. Her articles were known for a quick-witted take on school events.

Debbie met her husband of 47 years, Tom, while both were working at Waples Platter, in Fort Worth. They married in 1975 and started and ran an architecture and design firm together, where she practiced interior design, had a furniture sample store, and enjoyed the work she did to help cultivate the Near Southside of Fort Worth. She loved refurbishing furniture and antiquing, and enjoyed having a booth at Montgomery Street Antique Mall for many years.

Everyone who knew Debbie, knew that she loved Christmas and birthdays. She would spread this joy to others and will be remembered for helping to make the holidays special. She had a generous heart and enjoyed celebrating others and showed this through the many creative cakes she made for the occasions and events in the lives of so many people. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Eugene Choate; and mother, Elva Lee Choate.

Survivors: Loving husband, Tom Malone; son, Cory Malone; and daughter, Kelly Malone.

She will also be dearly missed by her Christ Care group, her Keno sisters, and her beloved friends and neighbors over the years.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I knew Debbie, cousin to our neighbors the Crumley kids, in the 1960's. Later I worked with Debbie for a brief time at Waples Platter in the keypunch department. She was always softspoken, sweet and generous with compliments. May your memories of Debbie bring you comfort & peace.

Tom, I´m keeping you, Cory and Kelly in my thoughts and prayers. Debbie will be truly missed and Keno will not be the same without her and her many stories. May the Lord wrap his arms around everyone during the difficult days ahead. Much love and gratitude, Timi Ross

We are so saddened to see Debbie passed away.
Tom was our architect on our house in Annetta North in 1995. How we discovered he was an architect is something I tell so many people. I was driving down Forest Park Drive one day and I saw a " fake " Dalmatian in the window of an office building. I drove passed and thought , what is this place? I went inside and realized it was an architect business and not a retail store. I asked the lady behind the counter " Debbie" how much is that dog in the window, she asked Tom and he said it´s not for sale, Debbie then said , it´s tax time, it´s for sale. We all busted out laughing. I came home with a beautiful Italian Dalmatian riding shotgun in my SUV. I still have this beautiful Dalmatian to this day and that was in 1995-1996. We hired Tom to design our house that we still live in. If not for that " doggie in the window" we would have never met Debbie and Tom and would not be living in our dream home he designed for us.
Blessings to the family, thinking of you Tom.
Warmly,
Patsy and Jim Perkins

Debbie loved hosting groups in her home and decorating tablescapes for luncheons and other events at UCC. She had a collection of beautiful dishes, including many tea pitchers. She was one of the sweetest, most loving and generous people I have ever known. Thelia Chaffin, UCC Christ Care.
