Derrick Mathis Obituary
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday, Alta Mesa Church of Christ, 4600 Alta Mesa Blvd. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. You may visit Derrick from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
Survivors: Wife, Michelle Mathis; children, Angelica, Andre' and Derrick Mathis II.; parents, Pat and Lois Mathis; brother, Larry Mathis (Alice); sister, Patsy Smith (Jessie); nieces and nephews, Lahoma, Lori, Alicen, Michael, Quinton and Demerick; a host of family members and friends.

Heavy will truly be missed. I am so thankful for the good times god allowed us to share together.
We used to kick it and laugh till the sun came up. Heavy was loved by my family. You were the one to always call and check on me. You never let a holiday or birthday go by that I did not hear from you. Even though you were a few years older than me I feel we grew up together. You taught me things i will never forget. I remember you, me and Michael being in the country on the 4th of July and other times with our fireworks having a goodtime.
