Ann, Mike and family,

We have certainly lost a great man in the ranks of the coaching world. I count myself blessed to have known and worked with Dick over the years. I am privileged to call him “friend”. What a loss!

As I think back over the years and recall many wonderful times, I can’t help but remember the years Coach served the San Francisco 49ers and brought the team and his young family to Santa Barbara for preseason camp at UCSB. Those are fabulous memories for me and Bonnie as well as our boys. Gosh, I think Mike was about 8 years old with coaching in his blood! Dick Nolan was a remarkable man – a visionary.

Dick Nolan was an extraordinary individual - an amazing man. To later join him in San Antonio, Texas to embark upon yet another coaching journey – this time in the realm of arena football with the San Antonio Force – was fabulous fun. Dick most definitely had a sense of humor in that adventure! There are so many great memories I cherish.

We send our condolences and deepest sympathy to you, Ann, and Mike, Nancy and the entire family in your loss. May you find comfort and strength in knowing so many people loved and respected your husband, your father – our friend! We love you and continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Nolan Family,
It is with great sadness we heard of Dicks passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Although many years have passed, Your family left an indelible mark on ours, and we continue to cherish the childhood memories we once shared. Ann, Mom so enjoyed your friendship and Dad, who passed 3 years ago, always considered Dick a gentleman and dear friend.
May your memories of your husband/father be your strength during this difficult time.
With fondest regards,

The Garfias Family
Elissa, Patricia, David, Danny, Lisa.

Ann, 'Rook', Nancy, Mike and Family:

It is with much sadness I send this message as Dick was a fellow co-worker and friend some 30 years ago with the New Orleans Saints. He would often tell me if I was at a difficult moment, that "the sun will come up tomorrow". And it did.

Dick was a strong person. He didn't let on to me during two conversations last year, that his health was not the best. Instead. we talked and laughed about past times.

It was thru Dick I came to know 'Rook' and Nancy and hired them 28 years ago to do promotional appearances for me in the Bay area for "Ice Follies". Not only did we have fun, but they were great workers, never complaining about appearing in a heavy Cookie Monster costume. I'm only sorry I hadn't kept in touch with either of them.

Be consoled by the many great memories you all have of Dick as a husband, father, etc. He was an outstanding individual and I'm so grateful to have known him.

Dear Ann and family,
I am sorry for your great loss. Dick was a great man and I was privileged to know him at St. Francis. He was so kind to me always. I especially remember how graciously he took some items for my nephew to be autographed by Cowboys players, Troy Aikmen and Emmit Smith. The "little guy" is in college now and still has these treasures. Dick and Ann were outstanding in their involvement in the outreach ministry at St. Francis, recognizing all the gifts they had received and wanting to share God's goodness with others. May God reward Dick for his good works and console all of you whom he leaves behind.

To Ann and family: I was deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. He and I were good friends and played football together at Maryland. I last saw him at Maryland's homecoming in 2003. So many years had passed since our youth in College Park but on that Saturday 4 years ago we were reminded of such great, wonderful memories that can never be replaced. I will never forget Dick. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
