Sid May was my teacher at Euless school the first half of my 6th grade year. His wife taught down the hall. When N. Euless Elem. opened in January of that year, some of us were transferred there, and Mr. May became the first principal of our new school. There was only one hall of classrooms, with one room for each of the 6 grades. (The eventual "E-shaped" school wasn't an E yet!) Every single morning when I walked down the hall to my new 6th grade classroom down at the end, Mrs. May was always standing in the doorway of her 1st grade classroom at the beginning of the hall, happily waiting to greet her own little children as they arrived, but also me and everyone else who passed her doorway. Of course she always had that beautiful smile on her face and a kind word. It made a great start to the day for me to receive her cheery greeting each morning. I never imagined then that 60 years later I'd still be receiving the gift of her friendship. I'm so thankful that my sons and grandchildren had the honor and privilege of knowing and loving Pat May as well.

Our family is heartbroken to lose this icon of generosity, positivity, support, leadership, and beauty inside and out. My kids would not be where they are today if not for her. Many gems in your crown Mrs Pat May! Godspeed, from a grateful Mom, blessed by you many times over. Condolences to the family.
