Fred Brunkenhoefer Obituary

Fred Brunkenhoefer, 88, passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, May 31, 2014. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3621 Tulsa Way, Fort Worth. Visitation: Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood. Fred was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Shiner. He loved gardening and ballroom dancing and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran. Fred was a proud Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the landings on Iwo Jima and Okinawa and served on board the USS Pickens transport ship. He will be greatly missed by his wife, sons and grandchildren. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Dawn; sons, Glen and wife, Debbie, and Ken and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Travis, Logan, Lindsay and Lauren; and numerous family and friends.

My name is Robert Brunkenhoefer: I know my family is from Weimar and Emil Brunkenhoefer, my grandfather, had a cafe there. his son, Wilbur was my dad. We must be related to your family in some way. I know this is an awkward, but hopefully not a disrespectful, way of finding this out. My Great-grandfather was Fredrich Brunkenhoefer who emigrated from Oldenberg, Germany to Weimar and had 7 sons.
