Gregory Shambaugh Obituary

Gregory Shambaugh
February 15, 1948 - February 20, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - Greg Shambaugh passed away on February 20, 2021 at home. The world lost a generous, thoughtful, loving man that day. Greg was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He never failed to help friends and family with any task from home repair to soul repair. He was a storyteller as well as a terrific listener, and his stories often ended with laughter all around.
Greg was born in Nebraska and moved with his mother and brother to Fort Worth three years later. He attended Arlington Heights High and graduated in 1966. He chose Tarleton State University and completed both his Bachelor and Masters Degrees there. He completed his Master Degree in 1976. The friends he made at Tarleton State were his best friends until the end.
Greg taught Industrial Arts, Drafting, and Photography courses for many years at Riverside Middle School. Later, he served as Vice-Principal at Kirkpatrick Middle School and Meacham Middle School.
He was a positive force in the lives of many children, but none more so than his sons, Scott Shambaugh and Jon Norwood. His wife, Kay, was lucky enough to share his life and love for 37 years.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kay; his sons, Scott Shambaugh (Tessa) of Richland Hills and Jon Norwood (Stacy) of Allen, Texas. His five grandchildren will miss Poppo the most. They are Kate, Holland, and Marley Shambaugh and Logan and Hudson Norwood. Other surviving members of the family are his nephew Steve Shambaugh and sister-in-law Sue Shambaugh who live in Florida. He also has a large number of cousins that he held dear. Some of his favorite times were spent with his cousins (from New York, Chicago, New Mexico, Texas, and California) in Las Vegas. Tom Griswold, James Talley, and many other members of his Tarleton crew are also part of his favorite times. They are asked to play a round of golf in his honor.
A memorial will be held for friends and family as soon as the pandemic is under control. Donations to the American Cancer Society will be a welcome tribute for Greg.
