Gwenda Barker Obituary

Gwenda Barker
June 15, 1941 - September 2, 2021
Keller, Texas - Gwenda Lynn Barker, 80, a retired teacher, died peacefully Thursday at her home in Keller. Gwenda lived a full life and one of service to others. She taught for more than 20 years at Keller High School, and, after retirement, she worked with FEMA on the Disaster Response team. Gwenda loved to travel with FEMA and spent more than a year in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina helping the community recover and rebuild. She enjoyed playing bridge, grabbing strawberry limeades at Sonic and spending time with her family.
Gwenda was preceded in death by her parents, Margueritte and Elmer Boydston, of Buena Park, California and her son, Richard F. Barker, of Arlington. She is survived by her son, David Barker, of Keller, her daughter, DaLynn Barker Feely and her son-in-law Martin Feely, of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Gwenda was a loving grandmother to Christopher, Declan, Daniel and Kieran. She was loved by a large extended family, including many of her fellow retired teachers that she counted as family.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on September 16th at White's Chapel United Methodist Church, Rev. Dr. Judy Hunt presiding.
Memorials may be directed to White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. Whites Chapel Boulevard, Southlake, Texas 76092.

Gwenda you were one of my favorites. I loved having you as a teacher, working with you as a teacher myself and babysitting the kids when I was in high school.
Hugs to David and Dalynn
