J.O. Cox Obituary

J.O. Cox Jr., 77, a retired U.S. Army colonel, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Fort Worth.

Graveside service: 1:45 p.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

J.O. Cox Jr. was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Dougherty, Okla. J.O. was a retired colonel of the U.S. Army for 27 years and served in World War II and Vietnam. He was a retired professor with TCCC. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in 1948, master's degree from the University of Arizona and Ph.D. from North Texas State University. J.O. was past president of North Texas Unit WBCCI.

Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Anita M. Cox of Fort Worth; son, Kevin D. Cox and wife, Lisa, of Southlake; sisters, Barbara E. Renaud and husband, Leo, of Centerville and Joy A. Rainey and husband, James, of Amarillo; brother-in-law, Don E. Bridges and wife, Andrea, of Buda; grandson, Jason Roy Lockhart and wife, Melissa; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Lockhart, all of Allen.
