James Goldsmith Obituary

James Frederick ("Fred") Goldsmith
May 2, 1957 - January 28, 2022
Fort Worth, Texas - James Frederick ("Fred") Goldsmith passed away Friday, January 28th, 2022. Fred was the youngest of three children born and raised in Ft. Worth, where his family has lived for several generations. He met his best friend sixty years ago at Tanglewood Elementary, kept up with members of his Paschal High School class, and spoke with fondness about his years attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated in 1980. Although jobs in the mortgage industry took Fred away to San Antonio and Nashville in the 1980s, by the 1990s, he had returned permanently to Ft. Worth. In 1996, Fred met and married Nery Elina Saavedra of Valencia, Venezuela, in what could only be described as a whirlwind romance. The two remained married until 2014 and stayed close friends until he drew his last breath. Moreover, Tio Fred remained a beloved member of the Saavedra family. Fred loved cool movies, exercise, international travel and sailing trips with his closest buddies. Fred's death, falling approximately three weeks after his lung cancer diagnosis, has shaken everyone in his circle. The world has lost a gentle soul, whose quick wit and effortless humor lightened the lives of those around him.
Fred wished for a simple cremation and no funeral service is planned.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James F. and Ina S. Goldsmith of Ft. Worth and survived by brother Geary Goldsmith and sister-in-law Carolyn B. Goldsmith of Ft. Worth, sister Marianne Goldsmith of Ft. Worth, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
