Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas & Thompson's Keller Funeral Home. Burial: Medlin Cemetery, Trophy Club. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m.
Jerry had been a building inspector for the city of Southlake. Before going to work for Southlake, he retired as an inspector with 25 years of service for the city of Fort Worth.
Jerry was baptized at the age of 12 at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Keller, where he was a member for many years. He enjoyed giving a helping hand to friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bessie Pippin; brothers, Leon and Charley Pippin; and sisters, Mary Fitts, Lola Conner Wilson and Eva Payne.
Survivors: Wife of 32 years, Vernell Pippin; children, Cheryl Blevins and husband, Randy of Keller, Patty Smith of Haltom City, Gary Blackwood of Keller, Ricky Pippin and wife, Kim of Azle and Sam Blackwood and wife, Donna of North Richland Hills; niece, Kathy Jackson and husband, Mike; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends, all dearly loved by Jerry.

Dear Pippin Family,
I was surprised today to read about Jim's passing of this life. We were first friends as teammates at Haltom High School, and continued the friendship through our association with athletics in FWISD and Birdville. Jim was always there for others; he made a difference for some many! He will be missed!
