Jess Hall Obituary

Jess E. Hall Jr. passed away quietly Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation: 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home. Jess enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the onset of World War II and flew in Canada and Alaska. He returned to Texas after the end of the war and entered into the oilfield business with his father and three brothers. In 1948 Jess founded Weatherford Oil Tool Co., which today is known as Weatherford International, a global company employing over 50,000 people. After retiring from the presidency of Weatherford Oil Tool, Jess founded Jess Hall's Seasoned Salt Co. in 1975. Throughout his life, Jess maintained an intense love for aviation and his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Hall, and his brothers, Dub, Elmer and John. Survivors: Wife, Gayle; and sons, Jesse and Dub.

I was a 6th grader and my dad Jimmy Reeves worked for Weatherford Oil in Abilene, Odessa, Liberal Kansas all over. We met Mr Hall at a barbq at a home in Weatherford. I remember main home had burned. Scratchers n Centraizers supported us. RIP MR hall

Mr. Hall was always such a positive influence on me during many karate classes. He loved Karate and the many students that learned from him. I am so happy that he was able to attend my Black Belt Exam. Thank you, Mr. Hall. You will be missed.
