Joe Rowland Obituary

Joe F. Rowland Jr., 58, a retired pharmacist, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at a local hospital.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at White's Chapel of Memories. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Joe was born Oct. 5, 1950, in Fort Worth. He attended the University of Houston where he received his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. Joe was a pharmacist who showed the utmost professionalism and compassion to all his clients. In his later years, Joe's love of music came into play once again as he collaborated in the creation of a band in Weatherford known as Circus Water. Not only did Joe help treat people, he loved to entertain them as well. Whether with his guitar or with one of his many jokes, it made his day to see a smile on your face. Joe absolutely loved his family as well as those he helped care for. Joe Rowland accomplished many things in his life, however, that which will be missed most is his ability to make us laugh and his knowledge to make us well.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe F. Rowland Sr.; niece, Suzannah Loesch; and his Uncle Lyle and Aunt Annita Kanouse.
Survivors: Deborah Rowland, his loving wife of 30 years; sons, Joseph Rowland and wife, Charly, Christopher Rowland and wife, Latisha; grandchildren, Dallas C. Bowman and Sophie Lynn Rowland; mother, Reba F. Rowland; sisters, Reba Adams, Cindy Loesch, Kim Watson and husband, Clyde; Aunt Donna Ammacher; nieces and nephews, Gregg and Doug Ammacher, Kristin Zeaman, Mikal and husband, Tony, Johnathan and Ross, Wendy and husband, Wade; and many more loving family and friends.

My younger brother has been a special part of my life for so long,I can't imagine a day without his jokes and teasing.Few people knew what an intelligent person he was, what a great mind he had because he tried to interact with everyone in a way they could understand. My love and prayers go to his precious family whom he adored. I'm so blessed that I had him as a friend, a brother, and a confidant.Thank you for a ceremony that truly reflected his life, his wit, and his friendship to all.

Joe was my big brother by 8 years. As big brothers always do, he never thought I grew up and still enjoyed terrorizing me at every opportunity. He loved a good joke, that is for sure. It is so nice to see how he was able to touch so many people. I only hope I am able to do as well as he in brightening other peoples lives.
My prayer goes out to Debbie. I cannot imagine a life without my spouse and I'm certain that there will be a great void in hers. We are here for you Deb. We love you and join with you in missing our beloved brother, Joe.

I was lucky enough to have Joey as my uncle. He was always quick with a hug and a smile, and always there for me when he suspected I needed him. Joey was brave, as well. He volunteered to teach me to drive, and didn't give up even when I nearly got us both creamed! I will always remember how he was a regular encyclopedia of both vital and trivial information, and once he learned something he NEVER forgot it! He was such a gentle and caring person, and he always showed that he loved me, and loved my children as if they were his own. He even planned to walk me down the aisle if my father could not make it in time from out of town. I couldn't have found a better or more loving uncle, and I'm so happy to see the many ways he lifted people's spirits and changed lives. Aunt Debbie has been equally endeared to me, and I know that Joey's passing will leave an enormous hole in her life. I hope that these reflections can comfort her in some small way. Uncle Joey, I will miss your stories and your music trivia, your smile and your jokes, your wit and your wisdom. I hope there are guitars in heaven! Love you, Joey.

I worked for Joe at the Walmart in White Settlement when the store first opened. I enjoyed stories about little Christopher (3 at the time)...Joe was a wonderful boss and friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Joe became my pharmacist at White Settlement Walmart many years ago. We found a mutual love for fishing, big band music and Canada. Whenever possible we had lunch and talked of these and family.I will think of you fondly, big fella. God bless the family.

I too was one of Joe's childhood friends. In addition to the neighborhood games, Joe's father was the coach of our Little League baseball team. May Joe's family be comforted by many wonderful memories. They will be in our prayers.

I remember Joe from the neighborhood when we were kids. Joe was a big part of the baseball games at Rix Quinn's house and building Christmas tree forts in the ravine behind his parent's home. Joe was a lot of fun to be around and there was always something going on.

We were lucky to be able to be kids when we were young. I know that Joe passed on the ability to have a good time and enjoy life to his family. I hope that your memories of good times with Joe sustain you in the days to come.

I was one of Joe's childhood friends and neighbors. We shared many wonderful hours playing sports, especially baseball.

Not long ago Joe and I met for lunch, and renewed old friendships. He was a wonderful person with a terrific personality.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Rowland, Cindy, and other members of the Rowland family.

Joe was always so caring and concerned as he assisted me with monitoring the medications for my mother-in-law. Later it was my privilege to have Chris in class and come to know Joe as a concerned and loving parent. He was a kind, wonderful person and may God comfort you, his family, during this time of grief.

I just wanted to say goodbye to a childhood friend and a true, kind soul.I dont know if there is such a thing as 'good' or 'bad' genes, but if there is, Joe's were all of the 'good' kind. His legacy is that he now has passed them on to his children and his children's children
