John Taylor Obituary

John Frank Taylor II

May 26, 1939 - June 17, 2025

Fort Worth, Texas - John Frank Taylor, II, also known as "Red Mouse", passed away peacefully at 86, at home surrounded by loved ones on June 17, 2025.

John was born in Fort Worth on May 26, 1939. He served in the Army Reserves and was a lifelong attorney. He graduated from Texas Christian University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and from Baylor Law School, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi Law Fraternity. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Supreme Court of Texas. He was a member of River Crest Country Club, where he started a vegetable garden, still in use today. He was also a member and former President of the Steeplechase Club.

He loved to garden, drink fine wine (and not so fine wine), travel the vineyards of California, and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips. He was a tremendous storyteller and could answer any question. He was an avid runner and completed the New York City, White Rock and Cowtown marathons.

In addition to his parents, Mildred Mitchell and Frank Fowler Taylor, he is preceded in death by his late wife of 33 years, Diane Settle Taylor; and his partner of the last 20 years, Susan L. Crenshaw. He is survived by his son, Frank and wife, Moira Taylor; his daughter, Alicia Taylor and partner, Liz Kell; and his grandchildren, Shaun, Jack and Patricia Taylor.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Nycole, Melanie and DeAnna, who gave him love and cared for all his needs.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 24, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., at River Crest Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gladney Center for Adoption or Cook Children's Medical Center.

John Taylor was such a nice and funny attorney. Always had a story to tell whenever he came to the 325th Judicial District Court to set a case for a hearing. We had a good time whenever he and David Finney would join the Court personnel for happy hours.
I know we will all miss his humor.
