I miss him dearly, he and my father were very good friends, they both passed away only 3 months from each other in the summer of 2018. I can see them now sitting in a beautiful pasture under a beautiful shade tree drinking sweet heavenly Texas tea talking about old times and laughing together looking down on loved ones still here. Pastor Johnnie Ramsey was greatly loved and still is. On March 28, 2015 I was honored to have him marry my wife Stephanie and I in Wise County in the beautiful nature setting of LBJ Grasslands. I cant wait to see him again.

I attended Rolling Hills Baptist Church when he was pastor and such a great influence in my life. His preaching of the Word led me to Christ and eternal salvation and I will forever be greatful. He was such a dynamic Servant of God and his life and love for God will always be remembered. I am so thankful I had the honor of knowing and hearing his powerful messages of God's Love.

I am bereft of words to even try to explain the impact of the life and ministry that Dr. Johnnie Ramsey on my life. It was October, 1969. I was a near hippie rock n' rolling Baptist preacher's son newly arrived college student from Florida when I heard Dr. Ramsey preach "As An Eagle...So The Lord" from Deut. 32:11,12 at the Baptist Tabernacle in Shreveport, LA. He preached like I have never heard preaching for two hours! It was there and then that God captured my heart for the ministry. I have now been in ministry for 48 years and pastoring the one and only church in Houston, Texas for 37 years. I can still see him arms out stretched head lowered soaring over the pulpit - after awhile he actually began to look like an eagle sent from God to give a clarion call to this wayward preacher's kid. I will ever give the Lord Jesus the praise for putting this pulpit giant in my life at the perfect time. -Johnny Pope, Pastor, Christchurch Baptist Fellowship.

I've known Johnnie pretty much all my life. He was the preacher at my mom's funeral in 1990 and at my sister's memorial service just this January. Rest in peace, you servant of God.
