Kelly Edwin Goss was born April 3, 1935, in Logan, Ohio, and graduated from Newark High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio and completed his studies at Northwestern University Medical School in 1961.
His training continued with an internship at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, followed by a four-year internal medicine residency at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Hospital in Texas.
Dr. Goss proudly served in the United States Air Force Medical Corps for 20 years, culminating his military career at the rank of colonel and earning many military honors. Rather than retiring, he founded his own internal medicine practice in Fort Worth. For 22 years he had meticulously cared for each and every patient. He was a selfless humanitarian, who always needed to do more for others.
Free time was precious and his was devoted to his family and friends. Among his joys were daily walks with his faithful labrador retriever friend, Sydney; supporting Sister Cities activities of his wife, Anne, of Trier, Germany; sharing his loving, wise and funny way with his daughters, Tina and Mitzi; puttering around the house; relaxing at his favorite spot on the Brazos River; and playing with his beloved 2 1/2-year-old granddaughter, Gemma.
Dr. Goss touched many lives. We pray that his family and friends are comforted with the knowledge that he will be fondly remembered in our hearts, as he touched each one of us by his care, compassion and friendship. A stoic and quiet man, he would often say, "We must take whatever hand we are dealt in life." And indeed he practiced what he preached. For this gentle spirit leaves us with his legacy, that one man can make a difference.
