Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at White's Azle Chapel. Burial: Veal Station Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Silver Creek United Methodist Church, 2200 Church Road, Azle 76020.
Lela was born Aug. 14, 1914, to Will and Maud Gilley in Parker County.
She and her husband were retired dairy farmers.
She was a lifelong member, Sunday school teacher and member of the choir at Silver Creek United Methodist Church.
Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cherry; and parents, Will and Maud Gilley.
Survivors: Sons, Howard Cherry and wife, Sandra of Agnes, Doyle Cherry and wife, Theresa of League City, James Cherry and wife, Kathy of Azle; daughters, Sharon Cherry Rogers of Weatherford and Glorene Cherry Roden and husband, Tommy of Millsap; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She is one of the most wonderful women I have ever known next to my Mother of course .
