Leroy Cooper Obituary

Leroy Cooper, 88, a co-owner of Craftmade Manufactured Homes in Sylvester, Ga., passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Albany, Ga.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 229 Fourth St., Kennedale. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Elm St., Mansfield.

Leroy was born Dec. 4, 1915, in Fort Worth, the son of Samuel S. and Cleo Brown Cooper. In 1964, Mr. Cooper co-founded Craftmade Manufactured Homes in Sylvester, Ga. After retiring, he loved playing golf with his friends, collecting arrowheads and enjoyed his horses.

Mr. Cooper served on the board of education in Kennedale for 10 years, attended First United Methodist Church of Kennedale and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Kennedale. He belonged to the Artesian Antique Car Club in Albany, Ga.

Leroy was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Charles Cooper and Willis Dale Cooper.

Survivors: Wife, Ruby Sparger Cooper of Sumner, Ga.; sons, Sandy Cooper and wife, Jo, of Sumner, Ga., Larry Cooper and wife, Elaine, of Sylvester, Ga., and Mike Cooper and wife, Jo Ann, of Henderson; daughters, Marilyn Herring and Gayle Eason and husband, Harmer, all of Sylvester, Ga.; brother, Douglas Cooper of Kennedale; sister, Nettie Mae Cassidy of Kennedale; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

I would like to extend my condolonces to the family of Leroy.

I am the daughter of Eula and Birt Lowery. My mother was a sister of Cleo Cooper and Ben Brown. I remember my mother and dad visiting with Leroy and family in Georgia. Please accept my sympathy.
