Lisa Chung Obituary
Ms. Chung and a group of classmates were on a post-graduation trip Saturday when the catamaran they were on partially sank near Cancun, Mexico. The boat carried about 120 passengers who were on a snorkeling cruise.
A fund in Chung's name has been established at Grand Bank in Grand Prairie and Dallas to help the family defray expenses associated with Chung's death.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Homestead Funeral Home in Grand Prairie.

Mrs. Chung and family,
I did not know Lisa, but I did happen to see her when she was at Galenia. My husband was in the ICU bed next to your daughter from the 7th-10th and we breifly spoke on the elevator at the hotel we were both staying at near the hospital. I just wanted to express my deepest sorrow for what your family has had to endure, especially at a time that was supposed to be such a joy for your family with Lisa's recent graduation. I was at the hospital getting ready to fly my husband back to Georgia that Tuesday when I saw them bringing Lisa down from the ICU and I had hoped that the family would some how get the miracle they needed and that she would be alright. I was so saddened recently when I found out you had lost her. I wish there was something that I could do or say to comfort you, but I know it is out of my hands. I will however pray for the family as you all try to make some sort of sense out of this horrible accident.

My heart goes out to the parents, siblings and extended family of Lisa Tam Chung. It is such a heartbreak to lose such a young life but I do believe that God has a plan for this passing even though we may not come to fully realize it for a while. I will continue to pray for your family.

I am deeply sadden at your beautiful daughters passing.
I don't know any of you, but I lost my daughter at age 27 and my life was changed forever. Please know that your child is in a holy place and that is not what you want to hear.
They would always tell me, time will heal, well it doesn't but you learn to leave with your lost and pain. Yes, I do believe my daughter and yours are in a better world, but for us, we rather have them here with us.
You will be in my prayers and God will give you strenght to take one day at a time.

I've never met you before but I heard of the horrible sad tragedy....
I would love to tell you...your are such a special person to be chosen by our Lord Jesus. He noticed a beautiful flower with beautiful bright colors with so much love, character and compassion that he needed you in heaven to be one of his beautiful angels, and to be that Special Guardian Angel to your Family & Friends.

To the Chung Family. Your Daughter Lisa is the reason why we keep smiling when things are bad or things are sad. I heard about Lisa the day after she went to Heaven, and my prayers and my love goes to you all. To the Friends of Lisa. To the Family: As your neighbors across the street - Brandon (Lisa's classmate/growing up playmate) and I (Melba) are at a loss for words and so heart stricken of this tragedy. We will miss seeing Lisa getting into her SUV going and coming - taking Kevin here and there. I'll especially miss the waves and the hello's and the beautiful smile that came with each one. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Chung and Lisa's Brother, I have read about your terrible loss in the paper, and I am heartsick for you. I know the pain you are feeling and have wanted to write to you. This guest book seemed like a good way. Twenty years ago I lost my son in a drowning accident. Nothing hurts like the loss of a child and sibling.I do want to tell you that in spite of the horrible pain you feel now, you will be better and will be able to go on with your life. I am very sorry to hear about the tragedy of a bright young woman name lisa chung. I went to school with her I was a senior and she was a junior but I remember her from all the school activities she was in. I really didnt get a chance to know her but my friends and I have heard many great things about her. Im truely sorry about this noe one deserves to die especially her. My Brother was really close friends to your daughter Lisa!and i havent seen him this sad in a very long time!!!I went to the candle lighting and to see my really close friend JOANNA crying and telling me that lisa was her cousin i felt really sad and i want to give all my prayers to all of lisa's family and friends!!I will see all of you at the second vigul and at the wake and funeral!!!!!Your daughter is a very beautiful young woman!!!!And i know a lot of people will miss her because of her outstanding friendship!!!!

Lisa brought a group of fellow Honor Society members to volunteer at the Friends of the Arlington Public Library book sale in April. It was a great pleasure to know and work with her and her group. She was a remarkably fine young person. We are all saddened by her loss. Our sympathy to her family and friends.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My daughter graduated from SGPHS in '99 and I can't imagine life without her. I lost my mother last month and I don't think I'll ever get over that. You're not supposed to have to bury your children! Lisa had to have made you all very proud. She was such an achiever and such a beautiful young lady. May God be with you all. My heart was very burdened to read of the loss of your dear child. You do not know me but I know your pain and your grief as I too lost my only child, Alex in January 08, he was also 18. The journey of grief is a very lonely one but know that the sharp pain will lesson in time though your love for Lisa will continue.
