Lissie Bredthauer Obituary

Lissie Bredthauer

December 24, 1954 - June 29, 2025

Fort Worth, Texas - It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lissie Bredthauer, 70, of Fort Worth, TX. Lissie was called home to be with her Lord and loving Savior on June 29th, 2025. We have no doubt she was welcomed into Heaven with open arms and the words "well done, good and faithful servant."

Born on December 24th, 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi, Lissie was the daughter of Hickey and Jean Anderson. She attended Provine High School, where she was a proud member of the Rams cheerleading squad. She loved sharing her old cheerleading moves with her granddaughters. Lissie attended Belhaven College and Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, she moved to Dallas, where she met her beloved husband, Bill Bredthauer, who was in his second year of law school at SMU. Lissie and Bill were married on March 14, 1981 at Robert Carr Chapel in Fort Worth. Together they raised three boys: Cole, Drew and Thomas. She loved being a boy mom, her boys were her world.

Lissie loved her family and friends deeply. She was an adored sister to her brother, Bill Anderson and sister, Pam Anglade. Lissie and her brother loved telling hilarious stories from their Mississippi childhood, which always brought so much laughter. She was a devoted wife for 45 years. Bill was the love of her life and together they were such an example of a Christ-centered marriage. She adored her sons and her daughters-in-law, Lauren and Caroline. She cherished her role as "Nene" to Charlie, Annie, Sam, Kate, Mary and Henry, her six precious grandchildren who were the greatest joys of her life. Lissie was a fiercely loyal friend who held her friendships close and their secrets closer. Her life revolved around her family, friends and faith. Not a single morning passed without her sitting at the kitchen table, deep in the Word, lifting each of them up in prayer. She was their steadfast prayer warrior and a living example of what it means to walk in a true relationship with our Savior.

Lissie was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and her love for the Lord was evident to all who knew her. She spent years leading bible studies throughout Fort Worth, faithfully offering encouragement and wisdom rooted in scripture to those around her. While Lissie helped lead many she knew in her community closer to Christ, she had a special knack for connecting with people wherever she went, always ready to share the good news.

Although we mourn her passing, we find peace and strength knowing that she is face to face with her gracious and merciful Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her son, Thomas. Her legacy of faith, family and devotion will continue to inspire us.

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Rev. 21:4.

A service celebrating Lissie's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 7th, in the Chapel at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Avenue. Reception to follow at The Fort Worth Club, 306 West 7th Street.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Chapel or Bible Study Fellowship.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and especially Lissie's caregiver, Carla Nails, who took care of Lissie along the way.

I have just learned of Lessie´s passing . I am so very sorry. She was a wonderful ( and very funny ) friend. Though she will be missed by so many I do know that she is now truly at peace in the presence of the Lord. Her faith was her heart. You and your sweet family will be in my prayers.

I´m from Mississippi and have known Lissie since the first grade. Everyone in school always loved Lissie and her kind ways. In our last 2 1/2 years of high school we had to transfer to a new school. There we finished high school together. Lissie was sweet and kind to me and I remember years later when my youngest son was paralyzed, she told me to " lean on the everlasting arms of Jesus,". I loved Lissie and will miss her presence on earth.... But what joy she must feel being in the presence of our Savior. Mary Anne Whigham Richardson
